Help

Here are a few tips for new contributors to yandoit.net.

Basic

  • Sign up. You can see the Login/Register link in the sidebar at the right of the screen. You will choose a username and password.
  • When your account is approved you will be able to login and add posts of your own.
  • When you read posts, in News for example, you will see a link under the Yandoit rainbow header – click on it to create a new post.
  • To Create a Post:
  1. Click the ‘Add Post’ link
  2. Type a title
  3. Type the content
  4. Choose a category from the list
  5. Click ‘Post’

It’s as easy as that!

  • Posts are organised by category. Categories determine where the post will appear on the site, for example, posts in the ‘News’ category appear on the News page and on the All Posts page. When you create a post, be sure to select an appropriate category. You can select more than one category. Contact the webmaster if you want a new category created.

Advanced

  • When you are logged in you will see a dark bar at the very top of the screen. This gives limited access to the WordPress ‘back end’. Most users will not need to use it, but it does give access to a more advanced editor for posts. If you want to add more interesting formatting to your posts, or edit or delete any of your posts, you will need to use it. You will also see an Edit link next to your own posts. The edit link also takes you to the ‘back end’ where you can make corrections and additions to your posts.
  • If you add images to your posts, note that the maximum image file size that you can upload is 2MB. Other media can be up to 10 MB.

Languages

yandoit.net supports foreign languages and foreign alphabets. I have tested it with French, Greek and Chinese. I don´t know how it goes with right-to-left languages like Arabic, don’t really have the skills for that. If you have any troubles, let me know.

Viewing, editing and deleting posts

  • No-one apart from yourself and the webmaster can edit or delete your posts. You cannot change others’ posts, but you may be able to comment upon them.
  • All posts are, by default, publicly visible and searchable. Remember that anything you post could be seen by anyone. You are personally responsible for anything that you post.

The information you enter when you sign up to yandoit.net will not be shared. You may receive an occasional email pertaining to yandoit.net, or matters of local importance.
